Who are we?
The Mariner Royal Arch Chapter No. 3217 is one 'new' Chapter which was formed by the amalgamation of the;
- Hedworth Royal Arch Chapter No. 2418, Charter dated 1st November 1911.
- Lord Barnard Royal Arch Chapter No. 2935, Charter dated 5th August 1925.
- The John Redhead Royal Arch Chapter No. 3217, Charter dated 2nd August 1944 and,
- The Tyne Dock Royal Arch Chapter No. 4218, Charter dated 1st February 1950.
The Mariner Chapter still works very successfully at our hall.
What do we do?
You join the Royal Arch to complete your Masonic journey, gaining deeper spiritual insight, exploring the "lost" secrets of the Master Mason degree, and finding a richer understanding of faith and God through allegory, while also enjoying a strong brotherhood and opportunities for leadership and charity. It serves as a natural continuation, adding a spiritual dimension to the practical teachings of Craft Freemasonry, focusing on finding truth and completing the quest for knowledge.
Joining the Royal Arch (or 'Chapter') is the fourth and final stage in Pure Antient Masonry, as defined in the Act of Union of 1813 that created the current United Grand Lodge of England.
Anyone who has been a Master Mason for four weeks can join—and should aspire to join the Royal Arch, because becoming a Companion of the Order continues their voyage of discovery, gaining deeper spiritual insight, exploring the "lost" secrets of the Master Mason degree, and finding a richer understanding of faith and God through allegory, while also enjoying a strong brotherhood and opportunities for leadership and charity.
It serves as a natural continuation, adding a spiritual dimension to the practical teachings of Craft Freemasonry, focusing on finding truth and completing the quest for knowledge.
The Ceremony of Exaltation sees members follow the clues from the Third Degree to complete their journey in Pure Antient Masonry, in a spectacular and unforgettable ceremony. Through ongoing participation, members will work together with old friends and new Companions to build on the principles of the Craft, and unlock fresh perspectives on the meaning and value of Freemasonry.
