Meeting Dates:
Hadrian Lodge meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., apart from July and August. We hold a practice prior to each meeting at 10.30 a.m. on the Sunday before the meeting to enable those taking part to become familiar with the ceremony. All members are welcome to attend. The Installation of the new Master takes place in November, the ceremony commencing at around 5 p.m

Who are we?
Hadrian Lodge is a very popular Lodge, founded in1882. The Lodge meets in the Ingham Street Temple, South Shields, next to the Morrisons supermarket and shares its ample car park. The Lodge has a historic association with seafarers but welcomes members from all areas of society.
What we do
We enjoy meeting for masonic ceremonies, followed by social gatherings within the hall. We are proud to include members from a variety of backgrounds, enabling all to contribute to our ceremonies. The hall is served by a popular bar and catering facilities. We contribute to Masonic charities through raffles and donations.
Why join us?
Above all, Hadrian Lodge is a very friendly Lodge. On joining Hadrian Lodge, you will immediately make many friends. Groups of members often meet socially outside of our meetings. There are members who frequently visit other Lodges throughout Durham and other Provinces. Some even occasionally venture across the border to Scotland. The Lodge makes a great effort to make sure new members become socially integrated into the Lodge.
History and Background
Foundation: Consecrated on September 15, 1882, following a petition submitted on April 10, 1882.
Origins: It was formed during a period of growth for Freemasonry in South Shields, following the establishment of the earlier St. Hilda Lodge No. 240.
Location: Originally met at the Fowler Street hall before moving to the Ingham Street Temple.
Character: Historically associated with the maritime industry (seafarers), the lodge has evolved to welcome members from diverse professional backgrounds.
Activities: Known for a welcoming atmosphere, the lodge holds masonic ceremonies, regular social gatherings, and supports charitable causes through, for example, the TLC (Teddies for Loving Care) initiative.
The lodge remains an active part of the South Shields Masonic community and often hosts social events to foster fellowship among its members.
