Community Groups At The Hall
From it's early days Freemasonry has strived to be part of our community and to enable community groups to utilise our hall for the benefit of the community, we have two community based groups who use our hall and details of these are listed below.
South Tyneside U3A
South Tyneside u3a is a local branch of the nationwide u3a organisation. Membership is open to everyone who is no longer in full-time work. It gives retired/semi-retired people an opportunity to do something different and offers the chance to make new friends, develop new skills, have new experiences, and really get out and enjoy retirement. Veteran Support Volunteer Service (VSVS)
The Veteran Support Volunteer Service (VSVS) hosts a drop-in hub at the Hall, every Tuesday 10:00 - 14:00.
It provides a safe space where veterans, reservists, and their families can receive guidance on housing, benefits, mental health, and connect with trusted organizations across the North East.
No appointment needed as it operates as a walk-in service.
We know that navigating support can be confusing. Our role is to make it simple.
At the Hub you can speak to volunteers who will help you:
- Find the right support for housing, benefits, pensions, mental health, and wellbeing
- Connect with trusted organisations across the North East
- Understand what help you’re entitled to and how to access it
- Get guidance on forms, referrals, and next steps
- Talk things through in a safe, friendly, veteran led space
- Be sign posted to specialist services when needed —
Who it’s for
- Army, Navy, RAF
- Veterans of all ages
- Families and dependants
- Anyone unsure where to turn or what support exists.
